Men's PodiumFor the second day the Chinook winds continued to blow off and on during the men's and women's slopestyle finals competition, where seasoned pro Jamie Anderson (USA) and up-and-coming American rider Sam Hulbert took home first place and valuable points towards both the BGOS and TTR Titles, along with $7,500 cash each.
This year's course at WinSport Canada's Canada Olympic Park consisted of 4 rails, a battleship wall ride and 3 final kickers.
Jamie, coming off of a European Open first place finish, continued her domination of women's slopestyle here at the Canadian Open.
Her first run locked it with a boardslide, boardslide 270 out, 50-50 tailpress, and 50-50 frontboard, finishing things off on the kickers with a frontside 360, backside 180 and a switch backside 540 indy.
"It's my first Canadian Open and it feels great to win," said Jamie Anderson.
"I didn"t make it out last year so to come here and win feels so good."
On the men's side it was a close competition through all three runs. It finally came down to Sam's final run, which consisted of a frontside 180 switch 50-50 switch backside 180 on the first rail, frontboard, boardslide 270, and 50-50 backside 360, finishing things off on the kickers with a switch backside 900 indy, frontside 1080 and a backside 720.
"This is awesome," said Sam Hulbert. "Going into my final run I wanted to win.
I just needed to land the jumps and I hoped the wind wouldn't slow me down.
Definitely one of the best moments of my life."
