Today was the last competition of the year for the Alta Freeride Jr. Team. I was a judge and will say, I was impressed. This little kids ages 11-17 were rippers. The development team started off the competition in Eagle's Nest up at Alta. All six of these guys had good solid technique and skied fluid the entire run. Next up the girls. A few girls took a cliff at the top of the venue and one girl took a cliff in an exposed area. Meaning, if she fell, it'd probably hurt, BAD. One girl basically made three turns down the second venue that took place on the backside of Alta. She probably skied faster than me on a really good day. Next up the boys. I must say, they all did well but two guys went pretty big off the top and then traversed skiers left to catch a second feature, more cliffs.
I have to say I was overall impressed with all of these little rippers and that you big tough guys on the World and US Tour better watch out, these guys are right at your heels nipping your butts and will probably pass you by in the next few years!
